WHAT CAN I EXPECT IN MY FIRST SESSION?
A lot of listening from me. This isn’t always my style (I try to be interactive with you), but it’s important for me to get a picture of your emotional landscape and not jump in too quickly. I don’t presume to know you from a brief questionnaire (among other paperwork that you will have filled out prior to our first session). During that first session (or first few), you’ll share some of your story with me and we’ll work together to identify ways I can help you to reach your goals. It’ll be helpful for me to have some information about your history and background to provide context for your present circumstances. It’s been my experience that therapy is most successful when therapist and client collaborate, and I always want it to feel that way for you in our relationship. You’ll also have time to ask me any questions you have about me and my work—it’s really an opportunity for us to determine whether we are a good fit.
HOW LONG IS AN APPOINTMENT? IS IT ALWAYS ONCE PER WEEK?
A therapy session with me is 45-50 minutes long. We meet weekly, unless your stuff is so overwhelming that you need to meet more frequently. Or, if you’re in crisis, we can do a phone or video session in between our regular appointments. And towards the end of our time together, we may decide that biweekly sessions are more appropriate to see how you do with less frequent sessions.
DO YOU OFFER EVENING AND WEEKEND APPOINTMENTS?
Yes. I see clients on Fridays and Saturdays, with both evening and weekend time slots.
HOW MUCH DOES THERAPY WITH YOU COST?
My fee is $200/session. I keep a number of reduced fee spots based on need and financial hardship, but those aren’t always available. If my full fee isn’t feasible for you but you’re still interested in working together, please call me and I’ll see if I have a reduced fee spot available. If not, I’ll help you find someone that fits your need and finances.

WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?
Cash, check, or credit card.
DO YOU ACCEPT INSURANCE?
I don’t, and there are a few reasons why--mainly having to do with your privacy and the protection of your health information. I can definitely provide you with an out-of-network (OON) receipt (called a superbill) for reimbursement if your plan has that option, but reimbursement for OON providers depends on your benefits and coverage. Here are some questions to ask your insurance carrier:
Do I have OON mental health benefits through my plan?
What are the requirements to use OON benefits?
What is the start date of the calendar year my OON policy is based on?
How much is my OON insurance deductible and has it been met?
How many OON sessions per year does my insurance plan cover?
What is the coverage amount per OON therapy session?
Is prior authorization required?
WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?
48 hours. With the exception of emergencies, cancellations with less than 48 hours notice that are not rescheduled for the same week will be charged the full session fee. The time we agree upon is yours--sacred and saved for you.
WHEN WILL I FEEL BETTER?
Therapy isn’t a quick fix, but I’ll tell you that my clients often find some immediate relief in sharing their story and having a process in place for healing and growth. It’s really important for me that my clients feel a new sense of hope and empowerment to take on their challenges and goals. And while life happens and circumstances arise beyond our control, it’s also super important that you attend your sessions regularly. When this happens for a while, we’ll likely have a conversation about moving down to biweekly sessions before you go on your way and live your best damn life.
