We love a good calm jar in this office! Helps regulate the nervous system by tapping into one of the 5 senses (sight) and gives you something pretty to look at. And I don’t work with young kids, who are the demographic we typically think of when we make calm jars–the adults I work with love them. Calm jars help regulate the nervous system by giving you something pretty to look at, and therefore tapping into your senses. Wanna make your own? Here’s how!

  1. Grab an empty bottle or jar of your choosing (plastic or glass). Make sure you have a jar with a lid that seals really tight!

2. Fill your jar about halfway with water. You can add food dye if you want, but make sure to leave space for glitter and glue!

3. You guessed it – now Fill some more with glitter glue, clear glue and glitter, or both. ✨

3. You guessed it – now Fill some more with glitter glue, clear glue and glitter, or both. ✨

4. Fill the rest of the way with water if needed. Or glue and glitter, I don’t make the rules.

Okay okay–one rule! ⚠️VERY IMPORTANT: Seal the lid with either a hot glue gun, gorilla glue, or something similar. Wait until fully sealed before using!

5. Shake, watch, and breathe 🧘‍♀️ It might not instantly take you from level-ten activated to cool as a cucumber, but it will certainly help you take a moment to breathe.
